Scarlett Johansson Falls Off Horse
Some bad news for our girl Scarlett. She apparently fell off a horse while rehearsing a scene for “The Other Boleyn Girl”.
The scene rehearsal took place in Derbyshire, England. Johansson was not wearing a helmet, but escaped serious injury when the horse reared up and threw her to the ground. Someone dragged Scarlett away before the horse could do further damage.
Being tossed from a horse can cause some serious damage, so Scarlett’s a lucky girl! Part of me found this amusing though, just because Scarlett’s career was launched with the Robert Redford film “The Horse Whisperer”, where Johansson’s character owns a troubled horse. Life imitates art.
Scarlett Johansson Signs Record Deal
I have to admit that singing was not a direction in which I saw Scarlett Johansson’s career going, but Scarlett is pretty good at zigging when everyone else expects her to zag.
Johansson has signed a record deal with Rhino Records’ Atco label, and she’ll be singing Tom Waits songs. Scarlett has a very unique voice, so I’m sure she’ll do well. That’s assuming she can actually sing, and this article says she can.
Rumor has it the record could be out next spring.
Scarlett Johansson Not Keen On Brazilian Wax
Scarlett Johansson revealed recently that she’s not a big fan of Brazilian waxing.
She recently had her first, and sources said that she “was a nervous wreck” beforehand. Johansson’s first waxing experience came at the hands of New York’s Oasis Day Spa, and rumor has it that the staff “couldn’t stop admiring her body”. Which really, can you blame them?
And for that matter can you blame Scarlett for being nervous? I mean, seriously. Ouch.
Scarlett Johansson Decides To Take Role as Mary Queen of Scots
Scarlett Johansson recently decided to accept the role of Mary Queen of Scots. The movie has been written by Jimmy McGovern, and Scarlett’s mother Melanie Johansson will be one of the film’s producers.
The film will have a budget of somewhere between $25-30 million.
The Independent says the film will “focus on the stormy relationship between the young Mary and her cousin, Elizabeth I, who ended up ordering her execution.”
Scarlett certainly does seem to love her period pieces. Filming is slated to begin next summer.
Scarlett Johansson Claims She’s Not Promiscous
This might surprise people who remember her alleged romp in an elevator with Benicio Del Toro, but Scarlett Johansson is claiming she’s really not promiscous in an Allure magazine interview.
She does however say that “monogamy might go against instinct”, but Scarlett clarified that statement, saying that she’s “happy in her relationship with … Josh Hartnett.”
The non-promiscous claim comes with a caveat though, as Scarlett says “Yet I wouldn’t say I’m a serial monogamist, either. I mean, I went through periods of time when I was, ah, single.” I’m guessing Scarlett had her fun when she was single, although I still don’t know whether or not I believe the elevator story!
Johansson finishes the interview by being a good role model, saying that she gets tested for HIV twice a year and that “It’s part of being a decent human, to be tested for STDs. It’s just disgusting behavior when people don’t. It’s so irresponsible.” Good for her!
Why Doesn’t Scarlett Johansson = Box Office Success?
Business Week has an interesting article about Scarlett Johansson’s recent movies, most of which haven’t been box office winners:
Her latest effort, The Black Dahlia, got a hefty marketing blitz and starred her love interest, fellow heartthrob Josh Hartnett. It had legendary director Brian DePalma behind the camera. Still, it tanked at the box office, opening below industry expectations with $10 million (second to The Rock and his prison football flick Gridiron Gang). The film noir murder mystery, made for around $40 million, will be lucky to gross 20. Johansson’s publicist said the actress is in the midst of filming in London and was unavailable for comment.Add that to a résumé that includes last year’s super-bomb The Island and the Woody Allen mega-stiff Scoop, and you have the makings of an Affleck-like streak.
I kind of think the writer is missing a couple of key points.
Johansson’s career seems mostly geared towards making movies that she wants to make, as opposed to movies that will make a great deal of money. Witness her working with Woody Allen and Brian DePalma. Also, while The Black Dahlia might only make $20 million in theaters, it’ll almost certainly cover production costs with things like DVD sales, and I’d be surprised if the film isn’t eventually a moneymaker for the studio.
A huge hit? No, definitely not, but not a bomb either.
I wouldn’t even say that Johansson is reaching a saturation point. She’s been in a ton of movies lately, but most were small films. Woody Allen movies aren’t generally going to launch in 3,000 theaters coast to coast, so I doubt audiences are getting sick of her. She’s only 21 and she’ll have a mega-hit at some point. I have to think that as long as Scarlett Johansson has the desire to act that there’ll be directors willing to hire her. She’s certainly no Ben Affleck.
Scarlett Johansson Has Huge Non-Typical Actress Boobs
Journalists must love hearing Scarlett Johansson talk about her breasts, because this sort of story seems to pop up every few months. Which I mean, can you blame them? It’s a pretty kick ass job where you get paid for asking Scarlett Johansson about her figure.
Scarlett has apparently told People Magazine that “I’m curvy – I’m never going to be 5′ 11″ and 120 pounds,” she says. “But I feel lucky to have what I’ve got.”
She also talks about her new clothes lines with Reebok and New Balance, saying that the clothes are “fitted to my body. So I know they’ll fit a regular person.”
Johansson also says that she wants to get married, but “I’m way too young,” she says. “I’m not ready to sacrifice a lot of things in my lifestyle just to have an engagement ring.”

Esquire Names Scarlett Johansson Sexiest Woman Alive
Esquire, clearly a magazine with great taste, has named Scarlett the sexiest woman alive. She’ll be on the cover of the November issue, which should be hitting the stands on October 18th. Her photoshoot reportedly includes lots of black lingerie, so I’m sure it’ll be worth picking up.
Scarlett had this to say about wanting people to see her as more than just a pretty face, “What about my brain? What about my heart? What about my kidneys and my gallbladder?” Starts off as a pretty standard quote and then gets a little weird with the kidneys and gallbladder thing, but that’s ok, we still love her.
Scarlett Johansson Possibly to Play Role of Natascha Kampusch
Natascha Kampusch is an Austrian girl who was held hostage for eight years. She’s now 18, and she was kidnapped in 1998 by 44-year-old Wolfgang Prikopil. He kept her in a cellar, and committed suicide after her escape.
Kampusch is blonde, with a similar facial structure to Scarlett, so it seems this would be a perfect role for Johansson.
